Dorrie Matthews PE

Mechanical Engineer

Associate

Home Office: Springfield

Dorrie became an engineer to make an impact. With a focus on sustainability and design, they hold a B.S. in Engineering from James Madison University. Immediately following college, Dorrie spent four years working as a designer for a U.S. Coast Guard naval contractor. Seeking growth and opportunity with mission alignment, Dorrie joined Systems West. Here, they have found a passion and focus for designing complex systems, such as laboratory HVAC systems and centralized utility plants. They’ve worked on numerous lab projects ranging from fume hood installations to BSL-3 lab design to full laboratory building renovations, such as Oregon State University’s Cordley Hall. She’s also worked on several designs and studies for district chilled water plants across the OSU campus.

Originally from Virginia, they came to Oregon after exploring some of the far reaches of the U.S. – living in Nome, Alaska, and Hilo, Hawaii. Outside of work, Dorrie often embarks on adventures in the gorgeous Oregon outdoors with her two dogs and partner, or explores the city and local events. However, they’re just as likely to be at home watching campy movies or reality TV and playing board games with friends.
